Why didn't the battery in my doorbell last as long as expected?

Projected battery life is based on typical usage using quality alkaline batteries. Variables such as heavy usage and climate conditions can affect battery life. For the longest battery life, use the doorbell within a temperature range of 40 to 77 degrees F (5 to 25 degrees C) and use only quality alkaline batteries (not low quality zinc batteries).
