What's the difference between a whole-house dehumidifier and a portable model?

Last updated

A whole-home dehumidifier integrates into your duct system to dehumidify your entire home. They are typically installed by a professional HVAC contractor and connected directly to a water drain so that you don't have to empty them. Portable dehumidifiers are used for small spaces, such as an individual room or area, and are purchased from retailers. Because of their smaller capacities, portable units need to be emptied often, sometimes daily, by the homeowner.
