The Real Reason for a Home Security System

Resideo Technology Behind ADT Command and Control Platform Helps Save Lives of Denver Couple

Inside their suburban Denver home last month, Greg and Tiarra Pailin were enjoying a relaxing Sunday evening when they suddenly spotted an orange glow through the window. They ran outside and saw their neighbor’s house on fire, and flames were quickly spreading to their own home.

After ensuring the family next door was safe, the couple raced back to their home to rescue their four dogs trapped inside. Meanwhile, an ADT dispatcher received the home’s smoke alarm signal and tried calling Greg, who had left his cell phone inside the house during the chaos.

Without an answer, the dispatcher contacted 911 and Denver firefighters arrived moments later. This is the benefit of having a professionally monitored system – the fire was detected, and first responders were notified automatically while the family focused on getting out safely.

This week, Resideo participated in ADT’s LifeSaver Award celebration, along with Alarm.com, to present a combined $15,000 to the Denver Fire Department to honor their rapid response that ensured minimal property loss and no loss of life.

The Pailins’ home had an ADT Command and Control Security System, which is based on Resideo’s home security technology. To date, ADT has sold more than 160,000 systems nationwide.

Robert Adonailo, senior director of product marketing for Resideo, attended the event and presented a $5,000 check from Resideo to the Denver Fire Department.

"I’m very honored to be here on behalf of Resideo. For nearly 100 years, we’ve been at the center of helping keep homeowners safe, comfortable and secure," he said. "We’re proud to be the hardware technology provider for ADT’s new system, working closely with them as a long-time customer to help protect consumers’ property, but more importantly, even help to save lives.

"We applaud the work of the Denver Fire Department and other first responders in the state who unselfishly protect the lives of its residents," said Adonailo.
