The mp3 doorbell (series 9 RDWL917A) can support most mp3 files, sampling rates (<48kHz), bit rates (<320kbps), mono or stereo. The doorbell does not support .wav or other audio formats.

The mp3 doorbell is only powered by the computer during file transfer. In normal use, a USB connection to a computer will not power the doorbell.
The mp3 doorbell (series 9 RDWL917A) may not initially recognize downloaded mp3 melodies for at least 15 seconds if it is powered from the USB without batteries installed. It is recommended to install batteries at all times.
When you connect the mp3 doorbell (series 9 RDWL917A) to a computer via the USB lead, it will switch to edit mode and the doorbell sound output is turned off.
Doorbells are set to play only the first 15 seconds of any mp3 file. If there's a particular clip within the file that you'd prefer to hear, you can use an mp3 editor program to create a 15-second file that begins where you want it.
When you connect the mp3 doorbell to a computer for the first time, your computer should automatically install the USB device driver. If the doorbell is not detected, remove and reinsert the USB connector or try a different USB port.
Currently, a bug in the Apple operating system prevents Apple Mac OS from transferring the file to the mp3 doorbell in the correct format (an error is generated). Until this Apple system bug is corrected, you'll need to use a Windows PC to transfer the file to your series 9 (RDWL917A) doorbell.
The mp3 format for website: 44100Hz, 128kbps, mono
The doorbell is only powered by the computer during file transfer. In normal use, a USB connection to a computer will not power the doorbell.
Yes. The doorbell can be powered from a power supply or charger using the USB outlet. To prevent the mp3 player from resetting if the power is interrupted, we recommend leaving the batteries in the doorbell when it's powered via USB.
